Will Steedman gives us the word on what went down in Singapore last weekend:
semis highlights vs Mochi
Hey disc peeps,
Just putting in some links for those of you who want to see some of the results for Singapore. Tournament was awesome…we had a team from mostly Philippines plus a few guys from Taiwan, few girls from Singapore, and J-lo.
Few newcomers to the squad stepped up and were awesome. The Singapore girls were solid defenders, Manila came up with some big plays, our two guys from Taiwan were anchors on the O and D handler positions, Mark (the new whiteboy) was laying out everywhere, and Nina from Circus was a monster!
Everyone played well and contributed, and we won an awesome semi 15-14 vs the team we lost to in final last year by one point (Mochi)….which is much of Black Flag from Spirits. We then played Freakshow in the finals in the longest game ever (over two hours) and won 17-14 in a pretty close game.
Here is write-up of tournament on Singapore Ultimate site:

Finals video is not up, will forward if it goes up. Word is born.
Reports from Carlo Corpuz and Ping Bautista from the recently held 2010 Shanghai Ultimate Tournament:
Shanghai Games
(by Carlo Corpuz)
Day 1
First Game against Hongkong Junk
SP starts on O and easily scores the first point of the game. Although things were going our way in the first half, something felt off and we didn’t feel like the team that had just won the league championship a week earlier. Perhaps it was the week-long lay-off or maybe all the parties in-between, but something didn’t feel right. Our “D” line was having problems with their offense and our “O” line was sluggish on defense. Despite the early setbacks, we still took the first half at 6-2. The governing body of Ultimate Frisbee in the Philippines, the Philippine Ultimate Association, or the PUA, hosted its annual Manila Spirits tournament last November 6 to 8 on the fields of Alabang Country Club. Manila Spirits 2009 was much larger than past years as the PUA accepted the opportunity to host the 2009 World Flying Disc Federation Asia-Oceania Ultimate Club Championships (2009 WFDF AOUCC for short), to run concurrently with Manila Spirits

From ousted portavoz de la junta, Rick Cayzer:
So it was a quiet weekend. Not very eventful at all. We had a few people over for some beers, hardly anything to talk about. Lance wore a cool mask. That was the highlight really.
9 Open teams, 4 Women’s teams, and a massive 32 Mixed teams. 700 participants. Thank you so very much to all of you who came to Manila and helped us make the 2009 WFDF Manila Spirits AOUCC such a successful tournament. We received a lot of very positive feedback, thank you to all who sent us messages to let us know how much fun you had. We had a terrific time hosting you and can’t thank you enough for your support. Rest assured that we’ll be taking your suggestions on board for Spirits 2010.
