We are happy to announce that the qualifier tournament for the final 4 spots for the 2012 National Championships (to be held in Alabang Country Club on May 26-27) will be on March 31 or April 1. Venue to be determined in Metro Manila. The following teams have already qualified for finishing in the top four spots of the A division of NYL*:

*A total of 37 teams from Metro Manila, Laguna, Batangas, Cavite and Zambales have participated in this league

The qualifier for the final four spots will be a twelve team tournament with the following format:

-Four pools of 3 teams each in snake format
-Top two teams from each pool automatically qualify for the quarterfinals (bottom team in each pool is eliminated)
-The four winners of the quarterfinals will qualify for the Nationals
-Semis and finals will play on for fun and bragging rights

Fee per team will be 1500php. The following teams are invited based on their finish in NYL (8 remaining teams form Pool A, and Top 4 teams from Pool B):

WHAT: 1st Annual National Championships
(This will be the best local tournament in the country, with the top 16 teams competing for the chance to be the National Champ!)
DATE: MAY 26-27,2012 
VENUE: Alabang Country Club
TEAMS: Top 16 Teams from around the country (8 from Luzon, 4 from Visayas, 4 from Mindanao)
 

About the National Championship tournament:

-It will be an annual event
-It will be the top 16 club teams from around the country:
-8 from Luzon
-4 from Visayas
-4 from Mindanao
-It is NOT for ringer teams (ex. Roaches, KKK), but for club teams from various leagues/regions
-For this year it will be by invitation, but for 2013 NATIONALS there will be regional qualifying tournaments.
-For the first year, it will be in Manila. For the future years we will take bids to host it from clubs/associations in other regions
-Mixed format: 4/3 ratio
-Price of tournament will be kept to a minimum to make affordable to all teams and players

As we want the provincial teams to start to plan their trip and buy tickets, the following teams are invited to join the tournament:

Visayas:
Boracay Dragons (Malay, Aklan) – CONFIRMED
Boracay Ultimate (Malay, Aklan)- CONFIRMED
Extreme (Dumaguete City) – CONFIRMED

Mindanao:
Davao Mulatto (Davao City) – CONFIRMED
Acidus (Jasaan, Misamis Oriental)- CONFIRMED
UGA (Iligan City)- CONFIRMED

There will also be two play-in games to decide the final spot from each region. This will be a one game playoff (race to 15) organized by the teams themselves. Winner of each play-in game gets the 4th spot from that region:

Mindanao: Davao Disc Squad vs South Side Guerillas

Players in Northern Mindanao may wish to attend the tryouts in Cebu City if it’s more convenient that way.

Please be reminded that all players trying out need to pay PUA membership dues – P200 for the entire year. (The Board will post more details regarding this soon)

Aside from this, we are also in need of Marketing/Advertising people to help us get funds and other sponsorship for the team. It will be the Marketing Committee’s responsibility to canvas, explore, and close key sponsorships in both cash (vital) and kind (airfare, field space, etc).  For interested individuals or if you know someone who could help, pls email Will Steedman at wsteedman@gmail.com. All players who feel they have the skills and/or talent to contribute are welcome to attend. Players are expected to make BOTH tryouts. If for some reason a player can only make one tryout, a valid reason must be given. Attending both however will give the Team Leaders a better chance to observe a players skill and most likely increase the chances they have to shine.

There will be two more tryouts in Manila following these two dates, but these will be by invitation only as cuts will be made after Saturday. Please sign up on the signup sheet TODAY so we can adequately prepare for the tryout:

We are pleased to announce the dates and locations of the first two days of Manila tryouts for Team Philippines for the WUGC Osaka 2012 campaign:

Wednesday, January 25th
8-10pm @ Ultra

Saturday, January 28th
